Behind The Scenes With Rock & Pat

In 2007 the great folks at Innova East added a 50 amp outlet for our RV to complement the water service already available and so we were happy to take up residence on the property.  Much more convenient for us as opposed to finding a space at a local RV park and then having to drive here each day. SWWEEEET! This year we also have hard-wired internet access.

It is so great coming here each year;  it is like being with family…the disc golf family we choose.  We cannot say enough about the fabulous folks who work here and make this event possible.  Over the eight years of our volunteering we have made many close friends here and the work environment is second to none.  Pat & I often relate that this is the hardest two weeks we work each year.  It is worth it! Why? Because we are involved with the premier disc golf event on the planet.  More importantly, we are doing it for the players so they can demonstrate the very best our sport has to offer.

So, as volunteers, what do our duties include?  Good question.  The answer is “anything we’re asked to do”. Our main responsibilities are organizing the Player’s Pack before play gets started and then spotting on holes 3 and/or 4 during the Championship.  We are way over 1200 Player packs and have seen more than 5000 players walking up our fairways.  We have picked up players from the Charlotte airport, landscaped, arranged and hung the country and state banners, lead cheers, organized and delivered 1st place cash money on my HD Road King (great video on YouTube of that group effort), the list goes on.
