US Doubles Start Saturday
In the annual jumpstart to Championship Week, doubles teams will once again do battle at the United States Amateur Doubles Championship Sept. 28-29. Registration is now closed.

Before the tournament, Spike Hyzer will lead a one-round flex-start singles event at Hornets Nest in Charlotte on Friday Sept. 27th. All groups must tee-off from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $10.
Then on Saturday, doubles begins with a mandatory player’s meeting at 8 a.m. at Hornets Nest Park. Teams will either play best shot at Hornets Nest (orig. layout) or alternate shot at Charlotte’s Nevin Park (short settings) for round one and then they will switch for Saturday’s round two.
The final round will be played captain’s choice at the Winthrop Gold Course in Rock Hill, S.C., on Sunday with tee times starting at 8 a.m. Stroke and distance penalties will be used. Tee times will be posted at Charlottedgc.com and PDGA.com
The players’ party will be at the Icehouse in Charlotte at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Free food for players. At 8 p.m., 3-time US Champ Barry Schultz will lead a putting clinic and a Q&A session.
