Owens Wins Hott Shott

Devan Owens can now add Hott Shott to his name.

Owens of Owasso, Okla., won the Hott Shott putting competition after the USDGC’s final round on Saturday.

Owens’ score of 445 points beat the 415 points that Ken “Tank” Franks, of Overland Park, Kansas tallied. A perfect score is 525.

In Hott Shott, there are six putting stations with five discs each that start at five feet from the basket and continue to 30 feet away. Players start at the 5-foot station and try to make as many as possible. As players continue to each further station, the point values increase as well.

Two Hott Shott lanes were set up next to each other, so that Owens and Franks could compete side-by-side. In the end it was Owens who prevailed, capturing the USDGC putting crown.
