Side Action
The following side action events have become staples at the US Championship. Registration for each event can be taken care of at check in.

Open to all USDGC Competitors – No charge
When: Qualifying: Winthrop GOLF Course, Wednesday afternoon/evening
Finals: Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex, Thursday night at 8:00PM
Prizes:
1st Place – Title and $500
2nd Place – $250
3rd Place – $100
Top 6 compete in both the finals AND in the King Masher competition on Saturday afternoon (preceding the awards ceremony). We will set up three Zones on the grass of hole 5 fairway below the road, the road and beyond is the 4th Zone. Each Zone will have a point value, Zone 1 2pts, Zone 2 4pts, Zone 3 6pts, and Zone 4 (across the road) 12pts. We will also set up 5 targets in each Zone. Any Ace will be worth 25pts. The player with the most points after 10 throws will be crowned KING MASHER 2009.
Fee: None
Description: Go from Grasshopper to Zen Master on the 10 level putting ladder to become the U.S. Putting Champion.
Qualifying: 9am-5pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday in the Player Hospitality area (behind Charlie’s house)
Finals: Top 3 plus ties, Saturday shortly after last putt falls – at the Shack

Fee: $5.00 per round
Description: Disc Golf United™ (DGU), the official handicapping service for disc golf, will be calculating handicap based standings using USDGC tournament rounds. The winner of each day will receive a $100 pro shop voucher. The overall winner will also be awarded a brand new DGA custom color target. Player handicaps have been established from past tournament rounds. Check out the side action standings and your projected score at the DGU tent or online by logging on to your free DGU account.

Description: One round of Captain’s Choice Doubles. Shoot a 36 to get the $500 bounty. And don’t worry about missing the lead groups compete in the Championship, we’ll be done in plenty of time to see them tee off.

When: Friday Night, at the Pig Pickin (Tailgate area near holes 5-7)
$500 is offered by Innova for an ace with the new Star Mako Mid-Range disc. Try it out. Players get 3 shots with the Mako to dial in their ace. Multiple aces split the cash.
Description: Daily Ace Pool. Pay for 1 or all days before you tee off on hole 1. $5 a day. There will be $500 seed money from Innova on Wednesday. If no ace is hit, the money carries over, all of it. You MUST be paid on the day you hit the ace. If you pay for Wednesday, but hit an ace on Thursday, you won’t get paid. $20 gets you in for the entire week. If you pay for all 4 days but are cut from the field Saturday, you can get $5 back from Andy on hole 1.
When: Wednesday (first round)
Where: Hole 3 – 389 feet
For competitors only and there is no additional charge. Hole 3 is the hole Joe has chosen. To win, the player’s shot must fly directly into the basket. Kick ins and skips do not qualify. Shots will be captured on video. You must display the disc prior to throwing, and then you must retrieve the disc ON CAMERA.
